Classing; letting members enter their work and get classed on it based on the following ranks: Novice, Moderate, Intermediate, Semi-Pro, Professional.
Quite a few forums have it now and its pretty successful. I think its a possibility that it could work here but it really depends on people to class.
Its hard to find a good person to class because they have to know what they are looking at and how to explain what is is ranked.
It could work with the staff now if its an average of their votes towards the rank and they all give a good explanation.
The only problem is that there is no real point to being a good class other than raising ego. Some people might use it to brag and others might use it to improve.
It works both ways and its worked on other forums. I think its a good possibility so thats why I've suggested it.

As you mentioned, the ego may be a downfall of this. Designers may think they're better than others because of the opinions of those who judge them, which is wrong.
And plus, this is exactly like what masdsn does, with the ranks and all. =/

I think mAS has an out of 5 rating standard.
I like the idea, but I wouldn't want to be a copy cat (it wouldn't be copying mas though)
And I'm not sure on other's opinion on having a rating code added.
Maybe only the critique mod could assign it one of these, and it would be an "official" rate.

no offence or anything, but: tbh, there isn't a need. It all depends on who's ranking, what they're ranking.. People don't all just do sigs. people does LP's, people do skins, avi's, wallpapers, etc. There's no need to be ranked by [for all you know] someone ranking could be worse/equal to your skill.. If anyone wanted to be classed/ranked, they should go to a legit professional. Someone who actually does this stuff for a living, get's paid for they're work, etc. Does it really matter what you are ranked anyway. Everyone's different, they're styles, how long they've been designing, etc. pointless imo.  |

I know its quite pointless but its always fun to know where your at.
Its not copying mAs because they didn't start classing. Maybe for ProBoards but it was around a lot longer on IPB and VisualBasic forums.

Thats for one image. Some people like to show all their work and get one rank based on what graphics level they are at.

If you guys really care, which I don't mind, PM me and I can give you an idea as to where I think you are at. I see a lot of work here and at SSD, so, it would be close to accurate. I don't think we really need a board. Maybe a sub board in critique later on but for now this'll do.

I've never liked the classing system people use. Art is art; no designer can classify you into a level because it's strictly opinion. So no. Classing system isn't gonna happen at wA.
