Is it me or is designing dying on PB? All the the old designers have all but left/don't make anything anymore. *cough*jongos*cough* And the biggest design boards are slowly dying in activity. When I first started, it seemed designing was alot more active amongst the PB community. Sure there's new designers, but all I see from most new designers is the same smudge sig. They don't really expand into other forms of digital art. It might be just me but it seems that designing on PB is dying in general. It's kinda depressing.

I agree. The fact of the matter is, PB isn't the best way to expand ones graphical knowledge, and thus people such as myself go else where looking for better tips, tutorials etc. We go to IPB, vB forums etc where there are Semi-Pro's, and pro's who don't mind sharing. Most people on PB don't share their resources, they are like "omg i cant share this link with you 'cos you might become better than me at graphics omg".. get me?

It's very depressing. When I came to PB, I thought it was built around Coding and Graphics, but now those are the boards dying!
There are new designers that come daily, but most are just mediocre. There are no great ones coming in. >_>

I agree. Most people on PB don't share their resources, they are like "omg i cant share this link with you 'cos you might become better than me at graphics omg".. get me? Indeed. Hence why I decided to share as many PSDs as I could, with the exception of the wA skin. I need to find some design boards other than PB ones. I used to post on this one with Cosmo (aka JimmyBjorkman) but it died in August. PM me some referrals please.

of course it is.
all the pros have left proboards or quit. i mean professionals, the people who made money that were at ssd and g101 back in the day.
yeah it is depressing. it's not as much fun to design in these communities with an abundance of active members better than you to point you in the right direction. people aren't dedicated enough anymore.
it would be great for it to restart, but i don't ever see that happening unless one forum can push itself into an almost utopian community, so that many great artists and designers feel the need to become active at it.

It's a shame, and the mention of PB designers' greediness definitely is what I think did it. I was that way before, I had so many things that I could have but didn't share with people. At this point, all of the old things I dig up, I'll willing to give people, because I just don't see a purpose in competing with people on the internet. I like to take into consideration that 5 years down the road, I won't regret giving somebody a psd of a sig I made. Shame some people don't see it that way (actually, most don't).
And, of course, the great designers like Reedy are all gone now. Our [Proboards] best talent now is maybe mediocre.

aye, it is in a dismal state now, I remember when I started there were dozens of designers to point me in the right direction. Now though, everyone is so protective, they all want to be number 1. Hopefully the open source resources here will have some effect.

I started to see that happen a year or so ago... All you can do is get new designers in, help the ones that are ok, and get better yourself.

I've noticed that as well.
Activity seems to be decreasing on amazing graphics sites, which is very upsetting considering all of the hard time put into them. I see sites with over 50,000 posts and over 1,000 members that are reduced to a couple posts a day by faithful staff that have yet to admit to themselves that their forum is dead.
It may just be a phase that PB is going through, or maybe designing is a thing of the past? Either way, it's depressing.

I agree with you 100% when I first found PB it was all about designing there could have been like 100 people or more at a time on ssd, and look at it now... Then there is Alvin, how many of you have seen him doin anything new lately? But a good group of people can come together and work together to bring designers back to PB...
