I know it's not the best, but it's the first time I've ever done something from scratch like this and done my own shadowing. It's not finished either, but I'd like some feedback.
It's okay I guess. There's not really that much to say about it. The layer styles are pretty good if you've never done it before. I would have to say that you should just refine the design of the ship its self and get it cooler looking.
Making love with his ego, Ziggy sucked up into his mind. Like a leper messiah. When the kids had killed the man I had to break up the band.
Shadowing is very good. Same with the wings. I'm just not getting the dimension for the middle component. First, I'd make the front tip of the plain more rounded. Right now, it seems to rectangular. Then add some more lighter hues like you did around the window on the front of the plane to the middle and back of it. Not sure what that grey thing is but if it's a wing, I'd fill it in and make it pointier like one of the tail wings on a real plane. Then add a shadow to one of the sides to add some dimension.
Why not work on it a bit in Paint? You get a bit more control (in my opinion), and in the long run, it'll be easier to play with as you'll have a lesser stream of colors.

I like the fourth one. And I think the first one would look sweet if the nose was pointed and a bit longer. And the second one reminds me of the Naboo starfighter from Star Wars. </dork>
