I tried making some forum images, but I'm not too good to make better 3D and Renders. So.. heres my try... __________________________ I tried some blending, but thats kinda hard if you can see it...

Actually, the contrast between the lighter blue and the darker blue is good. Too many people contrast the colors too much. What you have there is good contrast between the colors. Now for the suggestions. I'd suggest using different blues. Cause colors that are that vibrant and saturated, hurt people's eyes if they look at to too long. I'd also suggest adding a bevel line. Just make a new layer, and then take out your 1 px pencil tool, with the color white. And then draw a line on the very top of the gradient, on the new layer. On the new layer, adjust your opacity until it looks good.

I don't know if you used it, but there is a simple gradient tool with GIMP that will blend colors for you. Just choose color A and color B, use it, and then you have a gradient.
