1.) The banner needs a lot of work. If this is for designing anything, it should be more professional and clean looking. The banner itself is rough around the edges, very plain and boring. 2.) The bevel all over is out of place and not really needed. It looks messy and too blocky. My suggestion if you want something simple, would be to use a basic gradient and add a 1 or 2 px border to any area that will have content. 3.) If you are going to do a drop shadow, I'd suggestion setting the angle to 90 degrees, and spread out the size and distance to make it look better and more professional. Also change the color from black to a dark blue that matches the rest of the colors. (now that may be part of the bevel that I'm thinking looks like a drop shadow, but if that is the case, try the drop shadow option instead.) 4.) The men is okay, the buttons and the text are way too big, and the spacers some of them are smaller than the others and some of the menu buttons have out of place spacers. Keep at it and I'm sure this could be a promising template  |

Well its a little rough around the edges... but with a little work it can be done, I remember the days i used to use gimp... Still do a little. You should add a gloss effect to it and make the text more smoothe... something like this img87.imageshack.us/img87/9289/whatdesignaq6.png of corse thats a 55 minute job and can be improved but it was more of an example... Text on the buttons is a bit big but like you said its your first one... believe me mine now are a little sketchy and im not a beginer to this... Youll learn keep at it and dont get discouraged youll improve i promise |

it is a little choppy, you need to fix up the white spots, logo looks good. good job for your first template keep it up and you soon will become pro in no time ;P
