Index Thread:My blog is, essentially, a ramble of nothingness. You won't find anything that will help you do your homework, create world peace, end wars, or help you in any respect of life. My blog will contain detailed stories of my noteworthy sexual encounters =X, maybe some sports comments, music crap, and maybe a movie here or there. I'm an entertainment kinda guy. It's how I roll. Maybe someday I'll spice it up though. MAYBE. For you studmuffins. <3

Blog Entry #1 - The difference between modern and classic rock.
I have to wonder, what's up with modern music? There are so many mainstream bands out there today, but none catch my attention.
I'm a biased guy. I have strong opinions on what is trash and what is good. You'll notice that here. Whine about it if you don't like my opinions.
My Chemical Romance? Power chords. I was able to play every power chord, essentially, in 2 weeks of playing guitar. They are by no means amazing on a technical, but people love them. Is it because they are so frequent on the radio? MTV? What creates this public image that makes them "so great" when their music is so technically simple.
Sure, there are good bands out. I recently discovered Back Door Slam, who sound just like a mix between Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and a bit of Cream (two amazing groups, respectively) and actually have talent. But why aren't THEY well known if they sound better than 50 MCR's put together? MTV is a really lame excuse for popular music in my opinion. Their fans hardly even know what they're listening to, they just take it for granted that it is "good/great music". Have they ever listened to the rock gods? Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles. ALL have shaped rock and roll, and most have not even been heard of by some teenagers. In my opinion, a crime. People should really research music before they try to become such elitists (you may think that's hypocritical, but I know a shitload about music).
I'm done. I'm bored with rambling already. I'll post something else at another point.
<3 you all. Moldy Cheese gets sex.

Free sex? There's plenty of good bands out there today. They're simply just harder to find. Music really hasn't gotten worse over time, but it's mainstream music that's been butchered. Sure, you have your crappy 60s one hit wonders but you have guys like The Kinks and Beatles as well. I find that old school mainstream > today's mainstream. The reason behind this is commercialism. Stuff like MTV basically pick what's popular. And the recording industry is a bunch of money whores, rewarding bands that sound like shit but get high album sales due to stuff like MTV. Was MTV around the Beatle's time? I don't think so. They should just drop the "Music" from their name. But by all means, quality of music hasn't decreased. There's so much good music that has come out recently. Sure, there's no revolutionary guitar players like Hendrix or Page around, but music has moved on in a sense. It's incorporated more elements than just classic rock. Though, the MCRs of the world don't display this. But the creativity and innovation that older bands brought to the table is a continued tradition in today's music. (Just not the mainstream stuff.) And about music elitism, you can't be an elitist if you only know about one genre like rock. True elitists dive into all kinds of music, alternative, hip-hop, jazz, classical, etc. I'm slowing working my way up to becoming one. (I have most genres nailed down but have only scratched the surface of said genres.)

Half of your point was covered in my entry. Commercialism. I think MTV places too much emphasis on bands that aren't as deserving of it, and that really hurts the popularity of the talented bands that play their instruments magnificently.
