Plasma television technology is based loosely on the fluorescent light bulb. The display itself consists of cells. Within each cell two glass panels are separated by a narrow gap in which neon-xenon gas is injected and sealed in plasma form during the manufacturing process. The gas is electrically charged at specific intervals when the Plasma set is in use. The charged gas then strikes red, green, and blue phosphors, thus creating a television image. Each group of red, green, and blue phosphors is called a pixel LCD panels are made of two layers of transparent material, which are polarized, and are "glued" together. One of the layers is coated with a special polymer that holds the individual liquid crystals. Current is then passed through individual crystals, which allow the crystals to pass or block light to create images. LCD crystals do not produce their own light, so an external light source, such as florescent bulb is needed for the image created by the LCD to become visible to the viewer. Conventional wisdom is that LCD = better than plasma. But plasma comes in larger screen sizes.
Correct me if I'm wrong though, cause I probably am.

So, is there such a thing as a Plasma pc monitor? You could always hook up your computer to a plasma screen. The thought makes me happy. |

I know you can do that, but RKO is referring directly to an LCD and Plasma PC monitor...
I had never heard of, or read about, or seen a Plasma pc monitor, thats all lol.

Well, yeah, I heard that there's both screens for PC's, and I know that the plasma has limited time of use..... Oh and Arc thanks for teh link  And to all thanks for the info.... |

Oh yea you reminded me. Probably best if you don't go with the plasma for a computer screen. Cause for plasmas, if you have a static image on the screen for a while, it gets burned in the screen. At my friend's house, we played Halo for the entire night on a plasma and in the morning, the HUD was burned onto the screen. Not permanent after that short of time but if we kept on doing it, it would've been permanent. |

My Monitor is a LCD and its great. |
